Lets see...
Playstation 3 specifically I have played Valkeria chronicles, MSG 4, Killzone 2, Disgea 3 and 4.
I regard Kill-zone the absolute worst modern shooter I have ever played due to million bullet syndrome, horrid controls, lack of passion to kill enemies, clunky weapon swapping controls, unhelpful graphics, the single player was so bad I never gave multiplayer a chance.
For shooters you have to take my Xbox360 experiences instead. . |

Mgs4 was an interactive movie more than anything. :( more cut scenes than game. But you said ps3 only so that's all I have on it so far.
Here's hoping to zeros/five being more game fun. |

But yeah what I posted is far from complete list of games, I have messed with. Just know I have played quite a few of them and have seen games evolve over the years in terms of story telling, gimmicks, platforms, and genuinely good ideas that everyone decided to steal. |

I still stand by that Killzone 2 was pretty horrible. I also would like to state I did not enjoy half life 1 or 2 at all.
Also I played enough though killzone to understand the helgast are the good guys. Colation idiots are the real bad guys. |

I can understand not liking killzone 2 I'd chalk it up to you looking for a speedball arcade shooter like halo or COD. How could you possibly find issue with half life 2? It was the perfect middle ground for controls, and every gun was amazingly unique and felt different. Are there any FPS games you like, if your main goal is to have dust diverge from games like KZ2 and HL2 in my opinion you are taking the game in the wrong direction. Soon we will be playing tribes. *shutters*
I will explain since it will help you further understand what sort of gamer I am.
In short: Guns/Graphics/Physics/Play where supurb in Half Life 2, the only thing game wise I didn't like was the level design around one use gimmicktry to show off the engine.
The character environment, story, and relationships of the whole 'game board' was what made half life 2 so unenjoyable.
Gordon Freeman is nobody, Combine are not worth the bullets, Humanity doesn't need saving.
If you disagree with this statement let me ask you this; how far more interesting the game would have been to play as Alex?
There are plenty of other shooters where you feel more obligated to kill the enemies, it either becomes a joy (Gears of War, Zombie games) or passion (just about any Terrorist)
Portal Outshines Half Life 2, where HL2 failed to inject story, Portal wove it in.

OT: the lack of FPS console experience (especially PS3 experience) from the posts im seeing is concerning tho. This game is marketed for the console crowd how are ppl suppose to know what would appeal to the console community both casually and competitively if they barely spent time playing alot of diff mp shooters on the console?
Primary 360 Shooter player here, whole reason why I got a new PS3 (360 Styel) Controller for Dust.
I have played a few shooters on PC, Including Battlefield 1, 2, 2142(my fave) didnt play 3 or 4 as it felt too much call of duty-ish.
As for what sort of shooters I love
I regard Rainbow Six (all of it) and Ghost Recon 1 great shooters for the player involvement. I despise all Ghost Recon Sequels.
As for what I see in dust 514, I want to see the thinking involved required from games such as Ghost Recon I, but at the pace of possibly around halo/cod and other current shooters pace or slightly slower, I consider counter-strike and quake arena and UTs pace far too fast for this game because it would just be more reaction instead of planning at that point. |
